Doug Van Den Brink New Jersey

In a month full of adversary, DVM scored their best finish to date in this past weekends
Formula Drift event at New Jersey’s Englishtown Raceway.

“What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” If that saying is even a little bit true, then
DVM’s driver Doug Van Den Brink must feel a bit like “The Incredible Hulk”. First, the
team’s regular crew chief, Bobby Young, couldn’t make the event due to personal reasons.
Secondly, the car and all the equipment had to be in NJ three weeks early so Doug could
work-in a private practice day with friend and Formula D star “JR”, Vaughn Gittin Jr. Thirdly,
between the test and the actual event, the team used nearly every tool in their box as they
had to overcome more than their share of mechanical “challenges”.

“I should begin with a sincere “Thank You” to those that made it possible. JR Gittin for his
always beneficial advice, and to “Chip” and “Wheels” of Team Mopar for their help in
lending a hand with our car during and after testing, to my good friend and Coast Guard
serviceman Rob Gutzeit for his awesome assistance over the weekend, all the past and
present employees of Falken Motorsports for their unwavering support and last, but not
least, Doug Nagy from Street Wise who stepped in on a moment’s notice and crew-chiefed
our car,” team driver Doug Van Den Brink said. “Together we accomplished a lot and
without any one of them, our weekend would have stopped dead in its tracks”.

After a “modest” showing at Atlanta 5-weeks ago, the DVM team bounced-back with a 7th
place qualifying spot on Friday (of the 20 unseeded teams) and a career-best 17th finish on
Saturday (of the Top-32 teams in the series). This years Formula D series has proven to be
the toughest to date the team’s score of 89.88 out of a possible 100, would have placed
them nearly at the top of the charts just a couple of seasons ago.

“I have to say that we’re all very proud of our results this weekend,” Van Den Brink said.
“After all the trials we had to go through just to make it here, it says a lot about our
commitment to this sport. The double-edged sword of this deal is of course, that we are
right there, knocking on the door of the “Top-16” which is of course, where we want to be.
I think that if we’re able to find some additional budget that will afford us more testing-time,
we can really start to make an impact as the season heads down its summer-stretch”.
Next on the teams calendar will be July 11 & 12 as the Formula D teams spend a weekend
in “Sin City” for a midnight spectacular. Bring your coolers, its gonna be a hot one! For

DVM And Falken Tire Add Heat To The Arizona Winter

For anyone who’s not ever been to the “winter car selling fest” known as the Barrett-
Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona you only need to hear one word; GO!
Without question, it is one of the most exciting and spectacular events ever witnessed. The
cars are absolutely amazing and the spectators range from the hardcore, car crazed
“regular Joe’s” to the equally speed-frenzied stars like Patrick Dempsey and Tony Stewart.
This year the folks from Ford Racing invited Falken Tire Mustang drivers Doug Van Den
Brink and Vaughn Gittin Jr. to bring out their tire-smoken steeds and “liven-up the party”
shall we say….

“This event is one of the coolest things we’ve ever been to,” team driver Doug Van Den
Brink said. “Just coming to this event is an awesome experience in itself and one that I’d
recommend to any car enthusiast but even more it is a true honor to come here and
represent the fine folks at Ford Racing, Falken Tire and all our other supporters”.
Van Den Brink and Gittin not only performed amazing tandem demo’s for the cheering
crowds but they also acted as “thrill-ride” operators for special guest as every time their
cars hit the track there was some lucky passenger in the passenger seat right along side.
One might think that with passengers on board “our boys” might just take it easy and cruise
around but no, both Doug and Vaughn let it all hang out nearly skimming the walls
countless times and wringing their cars out like it was a regular Formula Drift event.
“It’s funny how pumped-up both Vaughn and I were out there for this event,” Van Den Brink
said. “So much so that we were probably a bit too hard on our cars. Once again had it not
been for my crew of Bobby Young and Joe Cannon, I can tell you we wouldn’t have made it
through to the end. I also want to send a big “thank you” out to Mickey Andrade, Kevin
Jones and all the other Falken guys for helping us out this week and all the other weeks of
the 07’ season for that matter. We all had a great time and for myself, getting to run demos
with Vaughn is always a treat and I can’t thank him enough for including us in this incredible
event. He is an amazing driver and one truly deserving of all his accolades”.

DVM Is Headed To Barrett-Jackson

Posted by Admin on December 20, 2007

Barrett Jackson Logo

What do you get when you combine 1300 collector vehicles sitting on nearly 70 sundrenched
Arizona acres, a pavilion covering over 322,000 square feet, over 4,800 Bidders
from all 50 States and 14 Countries with a combined buying power exceeding $1 Billion,
over 250,000 “live” spectators and 10.6M more enthusiasts at home watching on Speed
TV? You get the world renowned Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in beautiful
Scottsdale, Arizona.

Now what exactly does a collector car auction have to do with D’Vanz Motorsports? When
the rest of the country will be shivering in the cold come mid-January, our boys will be
heating-up more of Falken Tires “best” as they again team-up with Falken’s #1 American
driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. in a repeat performance of their much talked about drifting demos
at this years GT Live event. This time the Mustang duo will be doing 19, 15-minute drift
demos as special guests of Ford Racing.
“This event will be a big feather in our cap,” team driver Doug Van Den Brink said. “Not
only are we getting a chance to go to the Barrett-Jackson event which in itself (speaking as
a total car geek) will be one of the coolest things ever but we’re going there to represent
Ford Racing, which for us will be a true honor”.
Gittin and Van Den Brink will be performing their “demo’s” Thursday, January 17, 18 & 19
just outside the auction area. The event will go on rain or shine so getting good traction
from their Falken Azenis RT-615 tires will be high on the drivers priority list. This event will
also give the teams a tremendous opportunity to get their sponsors in front of some very
affluent spectators. Being that this event has all it spectators walking the grounds going
from car display areas to the auction floor, seeing our “drifting duo” will sure to be a highly
talked about event. Don’t be surprised if you see a Ford executive or celebrity going for a
ride or two, as both cars are set-up for passenger ride-a-longs.
“This event is one of those rare opportunities for both our sponsors and our team. The
impact and publicity from such an event is priceless.” Van Den Brink said. “Going into
the 08’ season, we’ve yet to secure all the funding we’ll need to get us through the year, so
hopefully, we’ll be able to use this event as a catalyst to showcase to a few marketing
partners and demonstrate what a powerful and impactfupromotional tool our team and our
sport can be.”
