First order of business was putting the Mustang drift cars up for sale. I’m both happy and a little sad to report that my primary car has found a new home already. With respect to the new owner, I can just say, Y’all will be seeing it again soon and it hopefully will give the new team as much enjoyment as it gave me for so many unforgettable seasons. I still have the “new car” that got a far bit along in its build process but still leaves plenty of room for a builder to put their own style into it. So should anyone know someone looking to build a car from a 100% straight and completely-prepped platform, please pass this info along.

Last month, my friend Steve Davis and I were able to get the Ginetta back out as we ran it in the World Racing League endurance event at Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas. It was the car’s first time back to a track since that same race in 2019. Apparently our little G55 was feeling a little bit neglected as for the very first time, the car gave us nothing but electronic-grief all weekend.
Thanks to the hard work of our team and the super-helpful guys over at Ginetta UK and USA, we were able to get in some driving on Saturday but since we started the race approx. 50-laps after it started, our finishing position wasn’t very indicative of how well the car drove.

On Sunday, again the car just wasn’t feeling it’s best as the electrical problems persisted and we unfortunately were not able to finish the race. Clearly not the weekend we were hoping for but it was great to be back in the English Hot Rod again and Steve and I are hard at work trying to put some races together this 2021 season so I’ll make sure to keep Y’all in the loop as our event-schedule firms up. Friends are always welcome at WRL events so hopefully you’ll be able to make it out to and event or two this year.
Next thing I want to share with you is the amazing work my friend Bill Rhine and his guys at Rhine Enterprises are doing with the DVM Ford Taurus. You may recall the Rhinebuilt guys are converting the car into a Vintage Road Race Car that we’ll compete with in selected SVRA & HSR vintage events. They’re doing a fantastic job on it and I just know it’s going to be a super-fun car to drive.

During this process, we’re keeping an eye towards making to cockpit adjustable so as to make it desirable for weekend Rental Customers that I can provide some coaching opportunities for. Whether it be for DE or actual vintage race weekends, this car will be available for a multitude of events so please reach out to me if this sounds like something you’d like to give a try. Also know that very reasonable track-insurance is available to keep your financial-risk down to a minimum.

Lastly, my good friend Colten Miller and I are moving forward with our plans to field a Dirt Late Model in the Crate Racin’ USA series (https://latemodeltouring.crateracinusa.com). I am in final conversations with a few trailer manufactures to get us a nice new hauler for this (and the vintage car) program and with any luck, I’ll be putting pen-to-paper on that deal by first of next week.
Colten is every bit as excited as I am to get back to the dirt-track and just to get myself up to speed on the latest innovations on these cars, I’ll be heading up to northern Tennessee in 2-weeks to attend a Late Model Chassis Set-up Seminar that will give a jump-start into what for me, will be an all-new style of car to set-up and drive.
Response to this new dirt-project has been great, many of the amazing companies that have supported my racing & drifting programs over the years are excited to help us support these new programs and we’ll continue to let everyone know the “who-what-where-why” as more content and information is released.
I know this is a lot of info to take in and believe it or not, there’s actually more details to these stories that I will share in the coming weeks so please continue to keep up with our activities. If there is ever anything I can do to help you in anyway, feel free to reach out and I will look forward to my next update when I can tell you even more.
Until next time, stay healthy and get to work on those “New Year Resolutions”… I know I am…
Take care,
-DVB
