In addition to his competitive career, Doug has spent many years teaching others about racing, performance driving and simple safe driving techniques for Teens and the General-Public who simply want to be better drivers. Currently Doug is a Lead Instructor for Porsche Track Experience, USA. at Barber Motorsports Park. Together with an amazing staff of Instructors, DVB uses the Porsche brand of vehicles to teach drivers how to manage high-performance situations both on and off the track. Through his years of teaching experience, he has honed his techniques enabling him to become one of the most effective driver coaches in the US today.
Leading us to 2023, in addition to his road racing activities, Doug’s main focus in 2023 is Dirt Late Model Racing as he continues his partnership Torco Racing Lubricants to take on the best dirt track oval teams in the So. East. These wedge-shaped high-powered monsters reach remarkable speeds on oval-dirt tracks with door-banging traffic from front to rear. These teams race for some of the largest purses in the country and the fan attendance for dirt-racing has never been higher.
Over the years, he has strapped himself in to over 18-different types of racecars and winning in nearly all of them. Driver awards such as Rookie of the Year, Hard Charger, Most Improved, Lap Records, Most Wins, Regional Champ, Track Champ, State Champ & National Champion are all in Doug’s past history.
Doug is a proven winner, having competed in over 260 races/competitions, he has been fortunate enough to top many a podium and hold more than his share of Championship trophies. He welcomes this challenge of Dirt Late Model racing and looks to fight his way up to the top-step of the podium…
