Good Run At Talladega

Good Run At Talladega

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Oct 24, 2022) – Over the years I’ve developed a hot & cold relationship with the Talladega Short Track that’s nestled right in between I-20 and the Super Speedway. For our JCM Motorsports crew, it’s hard to beat the location being only about 30mins. from our shop in Leeds. With the track now under new ownership, a lot of positive improvements have been made to the track recently. Every time I go there, there’s some part of the track that’s been updated so hats-off to the management….

Josh and I took our Torco USA / JCM Motorsports Crate Car over to Talladega to run one of their “weekly” events back in mid-Sept. We had a good “Draw” at the registration-window, so we started our Heat Race up front and managed to hold-on and finish 2nd.

Come time for the Feature, we got a slow start due to a lazy-carburetor. When the race started, our engine just didn’t “come up to song” as quick as it needed to and we settled into 3rd place. This situation nagged us all race following every Caution Period as we fell back to 4th at one point getting jumped on one of the many Restarts. Eventually I found a line around the track that the car seemed to like and by getting one of those spots back, we wound-up 3rd Place at the drop of the Checkered Flag.

All n’all, we had a pretty good night and while for a few minutes we thought this may be our night. We racked-up another Top-3 Finish in our Torco Racing Lubricants Car and pushed it back into the trailer with the bodywork in pretty-good shape.

Now, if the management at Talladega could just do something about all that Dust!
